EUFOR inspection team, officers Aldo Murgo and Helder Alves, on September 28, 2023. visited the Agency for Police Support, with the aim of continuing the action started by EUFOR, i.e. inspecting weapons, ammunition, and special equipment in the possession of law enforcement authorities at the state, entity, Brčko district and canton levels. The main goal is to update the data available to EUFOR after the last review carried out in 2018, all as part of the support of BiH on its way to the European Union.
After the activities and discussions with the mentioned officers, they were surprised that there is no unified procurement of police equipment and weapons at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Director of the Police Support Agency Enver Hadžiahmetović presented to the visitors the overall state of public procurement and discussed the way in which EUFOR will provide support and help to implement the legal competence of the Agency for Police Support, i.e. to carry out public procurement of police equipment and weapons for all police bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the inspection, further cooperation with EUFOR was agreed upon, which will be aimed at establishing a unified security system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with legal provisions, which is one of the most important preconditions that must be met on Bosnia and Herzegovina's path to the European Union.
